Fletcher woke up to snow and ice.  He was on alert.  Something had changed his daily routine and he was concerned.



Shattuck was still asleep when Fletcher braved the early morning ice and snow.

Beth and Emerson stopped by to visit Shattuck.  Emerson was born two days after Shattuck on Jan. 1st (the first baby of the Year in Jackson, MS).  Maybe they will attend Ole Miss together like their mothers.

Shattuck will eventually be able to join the men for the hunt.  Bentley Pembroke, Matthew Wages, Dr. West Lewis, and I went hunting this afternoon while Shattuck had to stay back with the women (sorry my son…. I hope to make it up to you).  The hunt was a tremendous success… we sat in the blind, ate turkey sandwiches on white bread with cheddar cheese and mustard (from the gas station), drank a few cold beers, chewed tobacco, and told jokes… what a great day of hunting!

Wilson and Allison Pace visited Shattuck this morning.  We had a great party last night at Folks Folly to celebrate Wilson’s 30th Birthday.





Lale had the Lobster… it was great!



I should have eaten more of my Lamb and had less of the bottle of wine before I got up to give a toast…



Shattuck slept well last night… and woke mom and dad up early…. lesson learned!

Saturday morning Shattuck and I laid in bed.  He was asleep on my chest so I didn’t want to wake him.  Fletcher jumped on the bed after going outside for his morning routine.   He cautiously walked up next to Shattuck and me and curled up leaning slightly on Shattuck with his face towards the door and his ears up.  It was like watching a security guard walking into his office ready for a days work.  Now I really didn’t want to disturb this group by getting up…. but… thats when we smelled the Belgian waffles cooking on Lale’s new waffle iron.  The aroma coming from the kitchen immediately disbursed all of us (I carried Shattuck… Fletcher ran ahead to locate the source of this smell).  Fletcher, Shattuck, and I reorganized in the kitchen to see if we could be of any help.  Wow!  Belgian waffles are really great… sorry Shattuck… you’ll have to wait until your teeth arrive.  Fletcher is sitting next to the fire looking fat and happy… he’s going to be one lazy security guard dog today.

One a progress note:  Shattuck is starting to target and track figures walking across the room with his eyes.  He especially likes to focus on the animals rotating on the mobile above his swing.

Shattuck loves his new ‘Bashful Puppy’ from his Uncle Albert and Nora.

Grandmother Adams had fun playing with Shattuck this morning.

Grandmother Adams came to Memphis to visit Shattuck.

Fletcher is feeling a little left out because of the attention the baby is receiving .
