inLale, Shattuck, and I went to the Indian Palace this evening for dinner. The food is wonderful and the people are so nice to us. Shattuck fell asleep to the music. Then we came home and read Chickie-Chickie-Boom-Boom. We need to buy Shattuck Kipling’s Rikki-Tikki-Tavi… that was his Great Grandfather’s favorite book to read to me when I was his age.
At the hole where he went in
Red-Eye called to Wrinkle-Skin.
Hear what little Red-Eye saith:
“Nag, come up and dance with death! “
Eye to eye and head to head,
(Keep the measure, Nag.)
This shall end when one is dead;
(At thy pleasure, Nag.)
Turn for turn and twist for twist–
(Run and hide thee, Nag.)
Hah! The hooded Death has missed!
( Woe betide thee, Nag!)
Rikki-Tikki-Tavi.

inThese two friends, Wilson B. Pace and William S. Adams II, are enjoying Memorial Day 2009. 82 Years ago, their Great Great Grandfathers ran together on the same election ticket in Alcorn County, MS… they both won their election… and both served with honor and distinction. Nothing is ever really lost, or can be lost,
Continuities
by Walt Whitman
No birth, identity, form–no object of the world.
Nor life, nor force, nor any visible thing;
Appearance must not foil, nor shifted sphere confuse thy brain.
Ample are time and space–ample the fields of Nature.
The body, sluggish, aged, cold–the embers left from earlier fires,
The light in the eye grown dim, shall duly flame again;
The sun now low in the west rises for mornings and for noons continual;
To frozen clods ever the spring’s invisible law returns,
With grass and flowers and summer fruits and corn.

inShattuck and his Grandfather Dr. Jim Adams spent the weekend together. He loves his Grandfather so much. He wanted to stay, but he decided that he has to go back to Memphis because his mothe and I would miss him so much if he spent the Summer in Mississippi… maybe in a few Years.
